Nepal Association of the Blind
National association of the blind envisions a society where blind and partially sighted (BPS) people can enjoy a self-reliant and dignified life and be treated the same as the rest of us. Their mission is to empower the blind and partially sighted (BPS) people through advocacy, capacity building and practical activities so that they are provided with equal rights and their living conditions improved.
The activities they run and focus on include advocacy and lobbying for the rights of blind and visually impaired (BVI) people; awareness and sensitization about blindness and inherent capacity; rehabilitation for the blind and visually impaired people; blindness prevention and controlling program; capacity building and leadership development; skill enhancement and vocational trainings; braille text books production and distribution to the blind and visually impaired school children; scholarships, education materials, white cane distribution; assistive technology development and enhancement; women empowerment and hostel facility for blind women and organizational sustainability.
Where will the funds go?
They are constructing a building in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-4 Danchhi, Kathmandu, which is currently at halt, due to insufficient funds. The funds raised through this platform will be utilized for the completion of the building, which will be called “Blind Women Safe Home and Training Center”, a shelter home to ensure the safety and security of blind women along with disability friendly accommodation.
